glossary

  • A chemical peel is a non-surgical procedure using custom-blended solutions to exfoliate dull, dead skin cells and improve the texture and overall appearance of the skin. With minimal downtime, it’s a great option for those with any of the following skin concerns: superficial facial wrinkling and fine lines, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and/or blotchiness, or acne scarring. Committing to a series of chemical peels ensures longer-lasting results and restoration of healthy, luminous skin.

  • Dermaplaning is a popular method for getting smooth skin fast. Involving the physical exfoliation of dead skin cells and “peach fuzz” on the skin’s surface using a medical-grade scalpel, dermaplaning can lead to a brighter-looking complexion and reveal healthy skin. It also helps improve the penetration of skincare products and can prep the skin for additional procedures like chemical peels.

  • Gua Sha (which means “to scrape wind” in Mandarin) is based on a traditional Chinese medicine technique. A non-invasive tool, such as a jade stone, is delicately swept across the skin to break down stagnant energy, stimulate the lymphatic system to reduce inflammation, and increase blood flow to lift and firm. It activates pressure points to create balance and relaxes the nervous system; at the bare minimum, regular Gua Sha practice is incredibly tension-relieving.

  • High frequency utilizes thermal current to treat acne, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and undereye circles. High frequency devices oxygenate the skin and kill bacteria with contact. There are two types of high-frequency electrodes: argon gas and neon gas. Argon gas is excellent for acne or oily skin, while neon gas has anti-aging benefits.

  • Great for most skin types, hydro-dermabrasion (also known as a hydro-facial) offers the latest skincare technology to remove dry, dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin while simultaneously infusing serums onto the skin with beneficial ingredients based on the skin's needs.

  • LED (light-emitting diodes) therapy utilizes different wavelengths of infrared light to help treat various skin issues such as acne, fine lines, and wound healing. It was first developed for clinical use by NASA in the 90s to help heal astronauts' skin wounds. LED does not involve ultraviolet (UV) light at all and is a skin-safe, non-invasive treatment. Most professional LED panels require 20-30 minutes of treatment to receive the greatest benefits; at eleven esthetics, our state-of-the-art Illuminate LED panels are effective in as little as 5 minutes!

We offer red light therapy, which supercharges your skin cells to rebuild collagen, boosts the immune system, and reduces inflammation - and green light therapy, which helps improve hyperpigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and increases cellular recovery from wounds and surgical procedures.

  • Microcurrent is beneficial for those looking to reduce the look of lax skin and facial muscles. It stimulates the skin, promotes wound healing, reduces inflammation, boosts circulation, and improves muscle function. Unlike other more invasive procedures, microcurrent facials involve no incisions or anesthesia.

  • Nano-infusion is a non-invasive treatment during which a special device with a sterilized, single-use silicon (what computer chips are made of, not silicone) tip “stamps” small channels in the skin. These channels allow for more effective penetration and absorption of serums and other skincare products. Nano-infusion boosts circulation, skin cell turnover, and collagen production. All of these benefits enhance the skin’s ability to heal itself and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other common skin concerns.

  • This advanced field of study within esthetics goes beyond surface beauty and focuses on the effects of cancer treatments and other health challenges on the skin. It complements medical oncology treatment, which can cause such skin conditions as pain, swelling, dryness, itchiness, scaling, peeling, blistering, and more.

A licensed esthetician certified in Oncology Esthetics® is trained to understand the various forms of cancer treatment and administer safe, soothing skincare services using modified protocols and techniques, a product line formulated specifically for compromised/extremely sensitive skin, and the tremendous power of touch. These services help to ease the side effects of medical treatments and promote overall well-being.

  • Oxygen infusion is an innovative skin treatment that uses a compression wand to deliver a high-pressurized oxygen boost to the skin, which stimulates collagen and cell production. It also enables hydrating agents, peptides, and antioxidants to penetrate deeper into the skin, resulting in radiance and glow. For those prone to acne, it helps to reduce breakouts as oxygen kills bacteria and unclogs pores.
